Poetry: There is no separation

There is no separation - אין הבדלה

God - You create distinctions,

You create light and darkness,

You create sunrise, sunset, dawn and gloaming –

help us into the in-between.

Source of loss and hope,

You taught Kohelet that there is a time to mourn and a time to dance,

You taught Amichai about the false dichotomy:

that we laugh and cry with the same eyes,

make love in war and war in love –

teach us the same.

May we laugh with tear trails still wet on our cheeks.

May we dance to a broken heart.

God – You create liminal spaces.

May the tears we sow

yield a harvest of hope.

May our brokenness allow Your light into our darkness –

to feel joy, find strength, taste sweetness.

We mourn, God.

Let us dance too.
